Elise helped pass legislation to fund wellness programs within fire departments, emergency medical services agencies, and health care providers to help support the wellbeing of our first responders.

Elise cosponsored the Emergency Rural Community Relief Act, which will expand the USDA’s Community Facilities program to allow rural communities to utilize the grants during an emergency situation. This will allow rural communities in the North Country to purchase vehicles, equipment, or services needed for the safe operation of essential community facilities during an emergency.

Elise co-led the Stronger Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act, which provides support for the victims of abuse and improves the process to ensure that our communities have the resources they need to prevent these incredible tragedies.

Elise helped secure over $45,000 in FEMA Assistance to Firefighters Grants for the Essex Fire Department to replace damaged or outdated gear. This funding will help ensure that our firefighters have the resources they need to do their jobs safely and effectively.

Elise announced that the Glens Falls Housing Authority will receive crucial @HUDgov grant funding to provide resources and services to vulnerable youth in the North Country who are facing homelessness. She will continue to advocate for important programs & projects that have a direct impact on our North Country communities, particularly those that benefit at-risk children.

Elise led the push for a cross-border pedestrian and bicycle ferry from Prescott to Ogdensburg. Through working with our Customs and Border Protection and local officials, she was able to secure the necessary approvals for a pilot project for this cross-border bicycle ferry. This project will increase tourism between Canada and the North Country, which will in turn bolster our economy.
